Greetings, One & All~
January having passed by in the blink of an eye, I trust your 2013 has been as full and flowing as mine has been here in Willyworld. On now to a full-on February. . . .
Arts Education
Beginning on February 4th and continuing through February 15th I’ll return to Sonoran Sky School in Scottsdale AZ for a brand-new Artist-in-Residency with fourth grade students called Exploring Arizona History Through the Art of Storytelling. I have been the fifth grade Artist-in-Residence at Sonoran Sky for sixteen consecutive years, conducting my Myths & Masks program; this AIR marks a departure into uncharted territory with a new grade level, so I’m excited to break new ground and lay the groundwork for yet another on-going tradition of excellence in arts enrichment at this wonderful school.
Concert for the Elders
On Wednesday February 6th at 7 PM I’ll perform a Duo Sonora Concert for the Elders at Atria Bell Court in Tucson AZ with classicojazzmenco guitar maestro Gabriel Ayala, who will take a brief hiatus from his never-ending world tour for this rare hometown show.
Concert for the Youth
On Saturday February 9th at 6 PM I’ll perform a fundraising concert for the Continental School District at the Quail Creek Community in Green Valley AZ with Americana singer/songwriter extraordinaire Amber Norgaard and her electric band, featuring Doug “Hurricane” Floyd on guitar, Jay Trapp on bass and yours truly on drums.
Concert for All
On Saturday February 16th at 6 PM the Gabriel Ayala Trio, featuring Troy Gray on bass and yours truly on pan-global percussion, will be in concert at St. Francis-in-the-Valley in Green Valley AZ, preceded by a pre-concert meet-and-greet with Gabriel Ayala:

Creative Development
On Saturday February 16th and again on Wednesday February 27th and Thursday February 28th Norwegian composer, singer, dancer and healing artist Solvei will fly in to Tucson from Los Angeles to work with her band ZumaSOL on material for an upcoming world premiere concert. This all-star ensemble is comprised of Larry Redhouse on keyboards, Fernando Romero on guitar, AmoChip Dabney on bass and yours truly on electronicoustic technotribal drumcussion–if only the walls had ears out here at Rancho Improvisoso!
And so it goes–and indeed, it will be gone before we know it–so savor the flavor of each mythopoetic moment, be well and be in touch!
